The Pampered Chef celebrated last week, after being presented with a prestigious award for its charitable efforts, at Cancer Research UK’s third annual Business Supporters’ Celebration Awards.
The Pampered Chef picked up the award for ‘Best cause related marketing or affinity campaign’ at the event, which recognised the outstanding contribution the company has made to raising awareness of breast cancer and raising money for research through its 2009 Help Whip Cancer campaign.
The annual campaign, which has raised over £850,000 in the three years since the partnership began in 2007, raises money for breast cancer research through the sale of a range of pink products at cooking shows and the donation of a percentage of sales from Help Whip Cancer fundraiser Cooking Shows during October.
In addition to raising £141,641 during the 2009 campaign, The Pampered Chef also executed a VAT donation initiative, in which they donated the difference in the change in VAT rate between 2008 and 2009. This scheme resulted in an amazing gift of £408,840!
Vanessa Clayton, Director of Marketing and Communications at The Pampered Chef said, “We are honoured to have been recognised by Cancer Research UK for our 2009 Help Whip Cancer campaign. It is a real celebration and acknowledgement of all the work our Consultants have done in getting behind the campaign by raising funds for research and spreading the word about the importance of early detection. This year, many of our Consultants will be taking part in ‘Race for Life’ to raise further funds for the charity.”
Christine Allingham, Account Manager, Cancer Research UK says, “The enthusiasm and breadth of The Pampered Chef’s support in raising funds for breast cancer research really shone out to our panel. Not only did they raise £141,641 through the sale of pink products and their Help Whip Cancer fundraiser Cooking Shows, but Consultants also took great efforts to raise awareness of breast cancer with their customers. This, coupled with the great media coverage around The Pampered Chef’s pink products, made our partnership a real winner.”
