A Real Irish Hooley
More than 100 Irish Distributors, agents and company employees enjoyed the Direct Selling Association’s annual Awards Dinner in November, which included the presentation of awards to recognise outstanding achievement.
The event took place in the elegant surroundings of the Grand Hotel in Malahide, not far from Dublin, followed by dancing to a live band, a traditional “hooley” combining laughter, craic and the all-important networking.
The highlight of the evening was the presentation of three awards selected from nominations received from member companies.
The winners were:
Best New Direct Seller of the Year:
- Bernie Walsh of Herbalife
Best Support Person Award:
- Robyn Crewe of Amway
And the overall star of the evening was Direct Sellers of the Year:
- Dan and Hilary Aughney from Herbalife
A special award was given to Peter Grala, former Secretary General and latterly Treasurer, for services to the DSAI. Along with the late Jim Threlfull (founder of the Irish DSA) Peter was responsible for setting up the Association in 1981, and he worked tirelessly over the next 27 years until his retirement two years ago.
Secretary General Roger Brown presented Peter with a solid silver wine coaster in recognition of his unstinting service.
