DSE Update: Growth at Direct Selling Europe
The European Direct Selling Association (DSE) that represents some of the well known direct selling companies and national associations continues to grow. Growth can be noted in its reputation in Brussels where key policymakers are starting to recognise the positioning of DSE.
In line with its strategy, approved by Members during the May 2009 General Assembly, Membership also continues to grow and contributions to the Association have grown by a third. Three companies, Nutrimetics (http://www.nutrimetics.com), Dr Phil. Egon Mueller Services and Victoria Benelux (http://www.victoria-benelux.com) have joined the ranks of the DSE, direct selling companies that offer honest and longterm income earning opportunities to its Sales Agents and Distributors, that go beyond national legislation to give the protection to consumers they are entitled to.
A steadily increasing number of companies are lined up to join the Association during the months to come, reinforcing the fundamental need for the Association and its strategic positioning.
With this powerful position in mind, a recent DSE CEO summit in Germany confirmed that DSE welcomes any and all direct selling companies (and national Associations) that operate in line with DSE standards and requirements.
DSE Members are every day more convinced that their strategic decision to create the organisation in 2007 was the right choice to protect their businesses and influence the legislative process in Brussels in an optimal way.
The key requirements to be a Member of DSE are that companies (or Members in case of a national association):
- Have the highest regard for consumer rights and consumer protection.
- Operate based on principles, ethics and sustainable business practices.
- Distribute products of undisputed reputation and quality.
- Offer any interested independent entrepreneur an honest and long-term opportunity to earn an income.
- Respect national legislations and go beyond to the point where EU Institutions and various Member State Governments do not need to police DSE Members.
- Ensure a large part of their production in the EU.
- Operate based on the highest standards in the business.
I invite any direct selling company (and/or national Association) who would like to receive more details of DSE membership to contact me directly. The continued growth of Membership of DSE during the months and years to come is in the interests of all, and will afford us all in the direct selling industry enhanced opportunities of progression.
To keep up with these developments, DSE launched, in October 2009, its new website which displays the most modern information and communication techniques.
The website is a portal for direct selling offering detailed information for the general public, policy makers and Members alike. People interested in knowing more about their rights as a consumer, about working as a Distributor in direct selling and about the tax and financial implications can find all the necessary documentation on the website.
Policy makers are kept informed of the latest developments within DSE and its Members in relation to key policy subjects. The secured Members access will provide Members key information to keep them up to date on developments in Brussels that may affect their business in the future.
