Awards Highlights for Ireland

MOTIVATION, inspiration and recognition, the hallmark of the direct selling industry, were in evidence at the annual awards dinner of the Direct Selling Association of Ireland.

The largest ever event of its kind in Ireland, 120 industry executives and Distributors from member companies enjoyed a night of celebration in Dublin at the end of the year. Guests included potential members, some of whom had earlier attended the association’s council meeting as part of the membership application process.

The highlight of the event was the presentation of three industry awards to recognise outstanding achievement in sales and service:

  • Best New Direct Seller of the Year (less than 12 months) went to Zoltan Varnai from Amway
  • Best Direct Seller of the Year went to husband and wife team Annette and JP Furlong from Herbalife
  • Best Support Person of the Year went to Glynn Chamberlain from Kleeneze

In a departure from tradition, member companies were also invited to recognise their own internal direct seller of the year. All the citations listed an impressive range of exceptional individual performances – from phenomenal sales figures to the personal values and qualities required of a leader.

Association chairman Andy Smith said it was motivational for all to hear such inspiring testimonials across a range of sectors. “The increased attendance reflects the growth of the industry in the last couple of years,” he said.

“Economic conditions continue to impact families who are seeking alternative earnings options, which have put the spotlight on the industry as never before,” Andy said.

“All our members report increased levels of inquiries, with recruitment illustrating this trend. At the same time, new customers are being attracted to this way of shopping, which gives them more control over their budget while offering convenience, choice and good value.”

He told the audience, “The industry here is in good shape, and it is encouraging to see more companies wishing to join the association, which strengthens the credibility of the industry and encourages even more people to join us.

Next year, I’m sure there will be even more of us enjoying another fabulous night.”
