Amway Prepares for an Exciting 2009, with Their Commitment to Change and Innovation

Following a successful outcome from a long- running court case, Amway UK and Ireland now look towards a successful future, and share some of their exciting plans with Direct Selling News Europe.
The year ahead promises to be a busy one, for Andy Smith, General Manager, Amway UK and Ireland. With plans designed to underpin their new business model, ranging from sponsoring their local football club, to playing a key role at the prestigious Clothes Show London and then culminating in the important official launch of a unique UK Flagship Experience Centre in London.
In the first of these plans, Amway UK and Ireland are proud to announce their sponsorship of local Milton Keynes football club, MK Dons, where they have become the club’s ‘Official Healthy Living Partner’. Amway’s NUTRILITE™ products will be integrated into the players’ training and nutritional regime to improve the physical performance of the team.
This sponsorship is an opportunity to generate awareness of the Amway brand at both local and national levels. MK Dons Manager Roberto di Matteo commented on the new partnership by saying, “The Club are delighted to welcome Amway as their official healthy living partner for 2009. Amway is without doubt, market leader in vitamin, mineral and dietary supplements and we strongly believe this partnership will be a huge success as Amway continues to develop their brand exposure in the UK market place.”
Amway UK General Manager, Andy Smith added: “The partnership is a fantastic opportunity to increase awareness of our company, our brands and our products and to enhance the reputation of our NUTRILITE™ brand.
Amway’s second exciting sponsorship opportunity this year involves them partnering with the exclusive brand ‘Eddie Funkhouser, New York’ at the Clothes Show London. The show, the world’s largest fashion and beauty event, will be held at The Exhibition and Conference Centre, London. Attracting international media coverage, it is expected that 50,000 visitors will attend the event between 29th-31st May, this year.
Amway Brand Ambassadors John Gillespie and Eddie Funkhouser have confirmed their attendance, so as to ensure a high profile for the company. Amway will also have an exhibition stand at the show, which will feature activities ranging from makeovers to style tips for visitors to the show.
The third component of Amway’s exciting plans is the launch of its Flagship Experience Centre in London. The official launch on May 13th has been timed to coincide with the Clothes Show London event to maximise publicity and provide a positive impact on the Amway global business.
Sheryl Franklin, External Affairs, Amway UK and Ireland said: “The Clothes Show provides the perfect opportunity to engage with potential customers and invite them to visit the centre. We will also be encouraging existing customers, our Amway Business Owners, and people looking for an earning opportunity to visit the UK Flagship Experience Centre to learn more about the company and to live the ‘Amway experience’.”
Andy Smith added: “The launch of the Flagship Experience Centre is a particularly exciting event for us, as it’s a completely new concept for the direct selling industry. It’s our chance to reach out to customers on the high street, and to give our Amway Business Owners a business tool in which to essentially enhance their own business, through the training and educational support which will be available to them within the centre.” He went on to say, “We are confident that this concept will provide a ‘living’ advertisement for our products and business, which will be seen and experienced by thousands of potential customers and recruitment prospects daily, due to its prime location in Central London.”
Amway UK’s Flagship Experience Centre will be located in Southampton Row, W.C.1, London. The 800m2 facility will act as the UK flagship for the Amway business in the UK and Ireland. Although not the first such centre in Europe, the London centre is the largest. The opening of the centre marks a major milestone in Amway history and also a celebration of the Company’s global 50th anniversary.
